Hello Beautiful and Lovely Souls,
I am writing this in a very strange time in our history. As you know the rising concern of the COVID-19 virus is rapidly escalating throughout the human population. I have been monitoring the situation closely and trying not to get caught up in the hype and fear surrounding this situation. I have decided, however, that it is necessary to temporarily close down my Massage Therapy practice and Yoga/AcroYoga classes. I believe it is the safest course of action to prevent the spread and the possible contamination to others. I am going to be offering online yoga classes so that you may either continue or start having an at home yoga practice. I have had an at home yoga practice for over a decade and must say that it has been a huge source of healing, grounding, and stress relief over the years. I encourage you to participate. I will announce when the class will be held and how to attend. I will be using the app Zoom to host the classes. Please check out my website for more information and updates at katieleetodd.com. We are going to be seeing a lot more reports with staggering numbers as time goes on. I encourage you all to take some time away from the news and social media, try not to get caught up in rumors and horror stories from people. Fear is a very powerful tool, fear creates stress in our bodies and thus weakens our immune system. I encourage you that when fear, worry or anxiety starts entering your minds, acknowledge it, then take a deep breath and ground yourself. Grounding can be anything, meditation, taking a walk, sitting in the sun, drinking a cup of coffee or tea, reading a book, watching birds, anything that can calm your body and mind. Fear and doubt are not truth, FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real. Please remember that you are beautiful humans who heal and regenerate. Surround yourself with compassion, love and light, it is all around you. The sun is still rising and setting, spring is coming, there is much beauty in nature and simplicity and now we have been given an opportunity to experience it more presently now. I think a lot of positive things are going to arise out of this. I think a lot of awareness is being created. Awareness about germs, and transmission and overall how humans can interact better with one another. Awareness about our environment, and how we are already seeing wonderful shifts in nature from people not driving so much, or using massive transportation. Awareness about our healthcare system and government operations- where they have failed and how they can succeed. I would like to take this opportunity to say that even though it seems like a new thing to have these cleaning protocols in place- I as a massage therapist have always done them. They are called Universal Precautions. It basically means that we operate under the idea that everyone can have something- so as a massage therapist, I wash and clean my sheets after every client, I wipe down all surfaces with disinfectant cleaner, I wash my hands before and after each client. These things should be ‘normal’ in all of our lives. Hand washing is the number one defense to almost all illness. Awareness is being created about people understanding their bodies. If you have a fever, you should not go out in public, a fever means that you are highly contagious and systemically ill. Fevers are unpleasant and make you feel unwell. But the body temperature has to rise in order to fight the infection, our bodies have wonderful protocols that they follow to keep us alive. That being said, if you ever have a fever, now or in the future, it is not the time to receive a massage or go to a class. It means you stay home and rest. If you have a fever and get a massage it can actually make you a lot more sick. Your body is already compromised and is doing its best to fight infection, and massage is very circulatory, so it can overload the system with too much and make you feel even worse and much more drained. Thank you so much for your time and I am grateful that you all are in my life and that I have had the opportunity to treat you. In this time of uncertainty, please remember that the human body is also miraculous. Yes, viruses can change and mutate to survive. But humans can change too, we heal! We regenerate new cells! We create antibodies! We fight! and we survive! Please keep the hope. Scoop up oceans of self love, it's out there, it surrounds us. I am sending out love, compassion, light, hope and well being to each and every one of you. You are loved and appreciated. Thank you, Katie Lee Todd
